3 Things I Believe Will Change the World
In this post, I want to delve into three things that I staunchly believe are transforming our existence— the metaverse, robots and extending human longevity.
Hey I’m Nik: Thiel fellow and 2x founder: fundplatform.io (sold) and welovenocode.com
In this post, I want to dive into three things that I believe will transform our existence— the VR/AR metaverse, robots and extending human longevity. These are not mere advancements in technology; they are monumental shifts and the most impactful innovations that will happen within the next 20 years.
Here is why:
1. Metaverse
Looking at our world from the “Hitchiker’s guide to the galaxy” perspective, our goals are to figure out:
why do we exist
who created us
what is the universe
Elon Musk says that most likely we live in a simulation and I agree. One way to figure that out is by creating a computer that is powerful enough to simulate our universe and to re-create the universe.
Once it happens, we will know for sure that we are in simulation. But for that, we need a lot of work and progress to be made.
Our speed of progress is restrained by the speed of communication. If it wouldn’t take so long to communicate, we would be living in a completely different world by now.
The solution: to connect all humans into one big network and to remove communication barriers. This can be achieved by implementing neural chips into our brains and by creating a brain internet (let’s call it “brainternet”). Creating a network like that will dramatically speed up the progress.
However, looking at the government’s decision-making process and social activism regarding chips, it seems it will take some time and I am not sure we will be able to put chips in our brains within the next 20 years.
Nevertheless, The closest “brainternet” one can imagine is by connecting humans via the VR/AR interfaces to create a metaverse where all humans will connected to each other, wherever they are.
It will allow us to communicate much faster and therefore since communication is the most important, the efficiency of our work should increase 10X+
Tech giants like Meta and Apple have already invested over $20 billion, underscoring the immense potential of this new realm. It’s projected that by 2026, over 5 billion people (95% of those who have internet) will use the metaverse for various aspects of life, including work, education, and socializing.
I believe the metaverse is a groundbreaking leap, a social evolution creating a realm where interactions are immersive and opportunities are boundless. It will allow people to transcend physical boundaries, meet diverse individuals, and experience the world in ways you never imagined, substantiating your belief in its transformative power on a global scale.
2. Robots
I view robots as silent pioneers that can do manual work, enabling us to focus our energies on innovation and compassion.
I believe that most of the daily activities humans do can and should be replaced by robots: driving a car, cooking, delivery, cleaning and much more.
The global robotics market, poised to reach $210.3 billion by 2025, is a testament to the revolutionary role of robots in our world. Robots have performed over a million surgeries in 2021 alone, showcasing their precision and efficiency. NASA’s Perseverance rover, exploring the uncharted terrains of Mars, exemplifies the limitless possibilities robots bring to exploration and discovery.
Witnessing robots augmenting our capabilities and mitigating our limitations has reinforced my belief in their indispensable role in shaping a future where our potentials are limitless.
3. Extending Human Longevity
Death has the biggest TAM
I’m looking at longevity from a simple perspective - how many people want to live longer?
There are 8 billion people in the world - and if you are to ask them: “would you like to live longer?” 99% of them will definitely say yes. Even if someone says “life should be short to motivate us” - just look at those people when everyone will be consuming drugs that extend our longevity to 200+ years. Those people will be the first in line for those drugs.
The longevity biotechnology sector, expected to reach $600 billion by 2025, is at the forefront of redefining human existence. Breakthroughs like CRISPR technology are enabling precise genetic modifications, opening doors to treating or preventing age-related diseases. Studies suggest that interventions in aging could potentially extend human lifespan to 120 years and beyond but I hope we will accelerate it.
I believe the quest to extend human life is one of the most important journeys we are undertaking. It’s about reimagining the human experience, allowing us to explore, contribute, and experience more. The advancements in longevity research have provided a small amount of hope and a glimpse into a future where our lives are enriched, our experiences are extended, and our contributions are amplified.
Conclusion: What do we do next?
Living amidst these transformative innovations, I am experiencing a new chapter in human history filled with hope, excitement, and boundless possibilities. I am both a witness and a participant in this transformative journey, eager to see how these three pivotal developments will continue to reshape our collective destiny.
Now, what are we doing next?
From the impact/effort ratio, it seems that metaverse is the easiest to create and I believe this is the first thing we should do - it’s also the soonest to come.
Robots seem much more capital intensive and therefore can be worked on after we succeed with metaverse. Achieving success in the metaverse will allow us to invest in robots.
And finally, after we put robots in every house - longevity. It is the hardest, most expensive, and therefore the last thing we should be dedicating efforts on.

My favourite part is "Death has the biggest TAM" 😂
+1
autonomous robotics + nuclear will help us become multiplanetary
200 years after we land on mars + human brain interfaces, we will become interstellar
only gripe is that the opportunity in longevity is not to expand pure # of years. it's the opportunity to expand number of healthy, productive years. no one wants to continue to live for 40 years in a vegetative state
